Design Process
- What problem did you solve when you designed your best set of initials?
- What did you communicate? Did you make them feel a certain way? Could your design inspire them to do something?
- Did you reach a design solution that truly satisfies you. Explain.
1.) The problem I solved when designing my initials was trying to make them look neat and precise. I came up with eight different designs on my initials and chose my top three initial designs.
a.) I wanted to communicate a sense of playfulness in my initials, they are neat, but have a fun design or include something that is fun to look at.
b.) I did reach a design that I am satisfied with. I liked my design, because I think it reflected me as a person and the design I choose to work in when I am creating art.
- Sydney Licht has determined was she is attracted to in her thinking and looking process are ‘things that are associated with eating and buying’. If you had to decide (you do!) what objects or ideas you are interested in when you creating, what would you say. (You can give more than one answer.) Explain your answer.
2.) When I am creating art work I prefer creating nature and landscapes, I enjoy the scenery and the challenge to make the landscape look as real as possible. I also enjoy making up different drawings by almost creating a collage of different photos, but they are related in some way. I once drew a design for a t-shirt and the outline was West Virginia and the interior of the state was every important thing that is in my county or things that people would've known the county for having.
- When designing, there are several ways of ‘doing’. How do you design in your life? What tools do you use? Do you collaborate. Explain.
3.) I designed the interior of my house. While going through the process I came up with a design that I enjoyed and then I went out and bought the materials. I got the paint for the walls and decorations to hang onto the walls. I went through the process of painting every wall and then once they were dry I added the decorations and got furniture to put in the rooms. It took a couple days to come up with a design and get others in puts like my moms to give advice and help decide what would be better in the room.
- Critique a classmate’s initials and post it in the comments of their blog.
- Provide the following responses.
- Description: A verbal account of what is there.
- Analysis: A discussion of how things are presented with an emphasis on relationships (for example, “bigger than,” “brighter than,” “to the left of”).
- Interpretation: A sense of the meaning, implication, or effect of the piece.
4.) I critiqued Ravens initials.
Raven, I really enjoyed all of your designs in your initials. Each one had a very unique design to it. The first one is simple and and linear, your second one is in a bubbly cursive with extending lines coming from it. My personal favorite is your last set of initials, because it is very neat and I enjoy the shading where the letters connect. You are a very creative person and always create beautiful artwork with lots of detail and thought put into them.
